Sonia
Sonia was just seventeen when she became a pop star. Whilst playing the Liverpool club circuit, she was spotted by record producer Pete Waterman. Sonia’s catchy debut single You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You, released in 1989, shot to Number One in the UK and sold a staggering 350,000 copies. The debut album which followed, Everybody Knows, included a string of top singles such as Can’t Forget You, Listen to Your Heart, Counting Every Minute and End of the World. She subsequently became the first female UK artist to achieve five top 20 hit singles from one album.
In 1991 Sonia was able to develop her song writing talent after signing to Simon Cowell’s record label and released the self titled album Sonia. Further hits followed including Only Fools, Be Young, Be Foolish Be Happy and You to me are everything.
Sonia then toured Europe, The Far East and North & South America which strengthened her already substantial following.
Sonia was then invited by the BBC to represent the UK in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing second and her single Better the Devil You Know hit the UK charts at number nine. Meanwhile, her album of the same name entered the UK top 20. In 2023, Sonia returned to the Eurovision stage in Liverpool and performed as a special interval act.

Sonia is also a veteran pantomime performer in roles ranging from principal boy to ‘Wicked Queen’. Her 20 pantomime credits over the years have included Dick Whittington, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty and Jack and the Beanstalk.
